BL Pencils are a part of a larger series named Bonded Leather Collection, that investigates the recycling possibilities of various types of leather waste. The extensive research of traditionally used processes, such as cuir bouilli, led the design team to the discovery of some new behaviors of the material. When exposed to specific moisture, heat and pressure, leather creates natural bonds that not only transform the material, but gives it properties of other materials as well, such as added strength and elasticity.

As the extension of the collection, the pencil in its essence, challenges the most our understanding of the utilitarian object. The sophisticated yet simple craft of its making versus the luxurious nature of the material creates a poetic clash of opposites. Along that line, the tactility of the object in use, opens up a new experience on a somewhat ordinary and habitual journey.
